Discover the story of Rosenwald schools in North Carolina, with a special focus on Craven County, where local Black communities partnered with philanthropist Julius Rosenwald to build schools during segregation. Through historic photos, personal accounts, and preservation efforts, Dr. Tom Hanchett reveals how these modest buildings empowered generations—and how their legacy continues to shape education and community identity today.

Reservations are highly recommended as this event WILL sell out; $10 for Historical Society members, active duty military, and students; $10 for non-members. For groups of 13 or more, please call the office at 252-638-8558 to book with the group rate.
