Postcards! Our thanks to Ernest Richardson III, local attorney, who allowed us to copy many beautiful vintage postcards from his collection. These cards which feature hundreds of scenes from the local area are found throughout our website and have become a huge favorite of our members and visitors.
This one is a gem - literally and figuratively. Here is a postcard of the Gem Hotel circa 1915 on Pollock Street. It was operated by many different owners during the early 20th Century. James Moore, father of Maude Latham Moore, was probably the most notable.
In the 1950's this house was demolished in order to build an office building. Truly sad.
