Oakwood Cemetery and the Mordecai Historical Grounds and Buildings
Thursday, November 5
On Thursday, November 5 the Historical Society will travel to Raleigh to visit the Historical Oakwood Cemetery where will be met by its Executive Director who will take us on a tour of the cemetery’s highlights including governors and dignitaries from all over North Carolina including New Bern.
Following the cemetery we will have lunch at Seaboard 18, a popular farm to table restaurant. Then we will continue on to the Mordecai Historic Park to tour the Mordecai House and its grounds. The Mordecai House is the oldest house in Raleigh on its original grounds and the birthplace of the 17th President, Andrew Jackson in 1795.
As always to keep our Day Trip costs reasonable, we will carpool from the Historical Society parking lot on Thursday morning, November 5. (Carpool drivers will receive $5 per passenger in their car toward gasoline expense.) The cost of this Day Trip is $36 for members, $40 for non-members and includes transportation, lunch tour fees.
