Traffic
- Expect delays downtown
- Alfred Cunningham bridge will be closed 11:00am – 1:30pm and 6:00pm – 8:30pm
- There will be no parking at the Convention Center or at Union Point Park. East Front Street will be closed between Pollock Street and the Alfred Cunningham Bridge and South Front Street will be closed between Craven Street and East Front Street between 11:00 am – 1:30 pm and 6:00pm – 8:30pm
Parking
- No parking at Union Point Park or the Convention Center parking lot located on the north side of South Front Street
- Handicapped parking at the Convention Center parking lot on the corner of South and East Front Streets
- Parking along streets outside of battle area
- City parking lot located behind the Fireman’s Museum (Hancock & New Streets)
Spectator Information
- No pets allowed in the battle area including Union Point Park and New Bern Riverfront Convention Center
- Public allowed in Union Point Park during the battle; however, once inside barriers, no one is allowed to exit until the battle is over.
- Public must be inside battle viewing areas 30 minutes prior to the battles (11:30am for the first battle and 6:30pm for the second battle)
- Earplugs recommended
- No glass bottles or alcoholic beverages
Public Safety
- WARNING: There will be loud noise and percussion
- Earplugs recommended
Boating Restrictions
- The Alfred Cunningham Bridge and the channels off of Union Point Park, extending from the Galley Stores (between markers 34-38) to the Alfred Cunningham Bridge, and the Rt 17 bridge (markers 32-34) will be closed to boat traffic 12:00pm – 1:00pm and 5:00pm – 7:00pm
- No small boat traffic will be permitted under the Alfred Cunningham Bridge between 12:00pm and 1:00pm
- A Notice to Mariners has been issued for the drawbridge to be closed during the battles

- Union Point Park restrooms
- Portable toilets at Union Point Park
- Riverfront Convention Center
- Tryon Palace Reception Center (Pollock & George Streets)
- New Bern Academy Museum (rear of building) during the encampment hours
- Smokehouse bathrooms at Attmore-Oliver House
- New Bern Civil War Battlefield Park
General Information
- New Bern’s many restaurants will offer ‘Bombardment Specials’!!
Most downtown merchants will be open late on Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8.
Concessions will be available at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center, Friday May 7 – Sunday, May 9
Union Point Park
- The park will be closed to the public for normal use between 9:00pm, Thursday, May 6 and 5:00pm, Sunday, May 9 (no parking, no use of boat ramp, and no use of docks)
- The park will be open for public visitation Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8 from 8:00am to 10:00pm
