Fun Learning
Adult programs
Lunch and Learn, Evenings at the Library, the Dr. Richard K. Lore Annual Lecture, the Ed Bearss Annual Lecture and the Sesqui-centennial Symposium provide opportunities for the public to learn about New Bern’s history. Tours of the New Bern Civil War Battlefield Park can be arranged by appointment, 252-638-8558. The Attmore-Oliver House is open to the public to tour, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm. Our Day Trip-er group travels throughout Eastern NC; the trips (four per year) combine learning with fun, food and companionship! In addition, there are weekly tours of Cedar Grove Cemetery through our partnership with Questers International.
Kids Programs
A Junior Docent Program as well as curriculum-based projects (such as the Native American Program and the Early History of New Bern Program) actively engage school-age children in the learning process. Other upcoming kids programs include Civil War Adventure Day.
The Marks Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior of New Bern High School and is renewable for four years of undergraduate study. If interested in applying, as a graduating New Bern High School senior, please check with the guidance department for applications beginning February.
